THEORETICAL AND METHODOLOGICAL FOUNDATIONS FOR THE STUDY OF TRADE AND ECONOMIC COOPERATION BETWEEN COUNTRIES UNDER CONDITIONS OF INTEGRATION

Abstract

Introduction. The article substantiates the necessity of applying a comprehensive methodological approach to the study of trade and economic cooperation between countries within contemporary integration processes. It is determined that modern trade and economic relations are shaped by various factors, which makes it advisable to combine theoretical and applied methods of analysis. A classification of methodological approaches to the study of trade and economic cooperation is proposed. A classification of methodological approaches to the study of trade and economic interaction between countries is developed, covering theoretical-methodological and instrumental-applied blocks.

Purpose. The purpose of the study is to classify methodological approaches to the study of trade and economic cooperation between countries in the context of contemporary global integration processes, as well as to substantiate, on this basis, a theoretical and methodological approach to the analysis of trade and economic relations between Ukraine and Poland in the context of Ukraine’s European integration.

Materials and methods. The study employs systemic, institutional, and geo-economic approaches, as well as general scientific methods of analysis, synthesis, comparison, generalization, logical analysis, and cause-and-effect analysis. Their integrated application made it possible to classify methodological approaches to the study of trade and economic cooperation between countries and to substantiate a theoretical and methodological approach to the analysis of trade and economic relations between Ukraine and Poland in the context of Ukraine’s European integration.

Results. On the basis of the proposed classification, a theoretical and methodological approach to the study of trade and economic cooperation between Ukraine and Poland in the context of Ukraine’s European integration is substantiated. The specific feature of this approach lies in the integrated application of both the theoretical-methodological and instrumental-applied blocks. It is concluded that the proposed approach can be used as a holistic methodological framework for assessing trade asymmetry and the influence of external factors on it.

Discussion. The results of this study make it possible to improve the theoretical and methodological framework used in the analysis of trade and economic cooperation between countries in order to obtain more relevant and accurate research results.
